The Name of Jesus - Part 2

“In order to live the abundant life God has provided for us, each of us needs to clearly understand the power and the authority that's in the Name of Jesus, as well as our right to use that Name.”                   Kenneth E. Hagin, The Name of Jesus

"And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything in My name, I will do it." John 14:13-14

The word ‘ask’ in this passage, is a different one in the original text to the word ‘ask’ found in John 16:23-24.

The term used in John 14:13-14 can also mean: ‘demand’.

We don’t command God, but we demand that the will of God is done in people’s lives or against opposing circumstances  by using the authority that is in the Name of Jesus.

From the context of John 14, we can see that Jesus is speaking of the greater works that believers would do in his name, because He would be going to the Father. (John 14:10-14)

We see an example of this in Acts 3:6 where Peter commanded the lame man: “In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”

All Peter did was to speak a few words and a man lame from his mother’s womb experienced God’s miraculous power in his legs and could walk!

What ingredients were contained in those words? 1) A revelation of the authority and the power that is in the name of Jesus 2) A revelation that he could use that name 3) Faith to use that name 4) Releasing everything in that name by releasing his words.

Peter said, “… what I do have I give you….”

That means Peter knew the authority of the Name of Jesus and that it belonged to him and because he had it, he could give it.

Let's ask God for revelation of all that is contained in the Name of Jesus and begin to use the authority that it's in it, to help ourselves and others everyday!
